HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's and women's swimming teams will be competing in the Toshiba Classic, hosted by UC San Diego in Long Beach, Calif. from Thursday to Saturday at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool.
The classic will feature 14 different squads on the men's side, including Stanford, which UH faced earlier this year. On the women's side, 24 teams will compete. This will include national top-runners Stanford, UCLA and defending national champion California.
The women enter the classic strong, after going 5-0 in dual meets at the WAC Shootout and having senior
Emma Berry honored as swimmer of the week after winning three individual events in October.
This will be UH's second road trip and big meet of the season. Thursday's final events include the 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle and 400 medley relay.
On Friday, the final events of the 200 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 800 freestyle relay will take place. Saturday's final day will have the finals of the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay.
