HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's and women's tennis teams at the UH Tennis Monster Smash, Saturday, Oct. 31, at the UH Tennis Complex. Fans will be able meet the 2009-10 squads, participate in a free clinic and join in some Halloween fun.
The event will begin a 9:00 a.m. with an exhibition by both teams followed by a free tennis clinic conducted by the UH tennis coaches. The event is open to all ages and participants in the clinic must wear tennis shoes. Also join the fun with a Halloween costume contest with prizes for the winners and free Halloween candy for the keiki.
The Rainbow Wahine, led by fifth-year head coach
Jun Hernandez, return five members from last season and feature five new players. UH won 13 matches last year, the most in eight years. Meanwhile, the Rainbow Warriors have eight returnees and three newcomers this year.
John Nelson is back for his sixth year at the helm of the men's squad after leading the team to back-to-back WAC championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
