Pair of Rainbow Wahine Head to ITA Regionals

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team opens tournament play at the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest Regional Championships, which runs from Oct. 22-26, at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.
 
Two Rainbow Wahine will represent Hawai'i in the ITA event, UH sophomore Alyssa Nafarrete and freshman Mari Tadaki. One of eight regional tournaments across the country, the West Regionals consists of a singles and doubles main draw.
 
Nafarette and Tadaki opened the season earlier this month at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in both singles and doubles competition. Tadaki went on to have 2-1 singles mark during the tournament, while Nafarette picked up a straight set win over Mariana Perez of Texas State. The duo also teamed up to win a doubles match against the Bobcats.
 
This week's tournament features players representing 16 Southwest region teams. Arizona, Arizona State, Loyola Marymount, Long Beach State, San Diego, San Diego State, USC, UCLA, Pepperdine, UNLV, UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, and Hawaii will participate in the tournament.
