Men’s Swimming And Diving Battles Stanford Tough In Dual Meet

PALO ALTO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's swimming and diving team lost a tough dual meet to Stanford on Saturday afternoon, 159-136 in Palo Alto, Calif. UH swam well against both California and Stanford over the weekend.
 
The Rainbow Warriors won five events, including sweeping the stand in the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard butterfly.
 
In the 200-yard IM, Luca Mazzurana won the event in 1:55.59, followed by Lazar Bogdanovski with a time of 1:56.32 and Eli Wong with a time of 1:59.28.
 
Mazzurana led the sweep of the 100-yard butterfly as well, finishing in a time of 50.05. Paul Birich finished second in 51.23 and Sean Reilly finished third in 51.66.
 
The relay team of Davis Kane, Reilly, Ilia Reyes and Mark Higley won the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 1:23.26. UH also finished second with the team of Vlad Anastasescu, Axad Al-Barazi, James Clarke and Patrick Kirkland.
 
Bogdanovski won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:49.17 and Mazzurana won his third event, the 200-yard butterfly in 1:50.86.
 
Diver Douglas Cohen finished second on the 3-meter and third on the 1-meter. Thomas Rugg finished third on the 3-meter.
