HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i men's and women's diving teams won three out of four events during the Hawai`i Diving Invitational held at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex on the UH campus.
NCAA 1-meter diving champion
Emma Friesen won both the 1-meter and 3-meter during the invitational. Friesen won the 1-meter with a score of 322.85 and won the 3-meter with a score of 288.75.
On the men's side, freshman
Douglas Cohen was the top collegiate diver on the 1-meter, finishing with a score of 298.25. Freshman
Thomas Rugg finished eighth on the 1-meter. In the 3-meter final, Cohen finished fifth and Rugg finished sixth.
The women's team also had a strong performance from newcomer
Daniella Nero, who finished third on the 3-meter and fifth on the 1-meter.
The invitational featured divers from Wisconsin, San Diego State, Boise State, Villanova, Wisconsin-Lacrosse, Minnesota State, Utah, Youngstown State and St. John's.
UH hosts the Rainbow Diving Invitational on Jan. 16-17 at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
