Rainbow Wahine Sailors Remain In 15th At Nationals

NEWPORT, R.I. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine sailing team failed to gain any ground, remaining in 15th place after the second day of competition at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association Women's National Championship Monday at Narragansett Bay.

Severe weather threatened the start and conclusion of Tuesday's racing, but race officials, competitors, and spectators alike were spared and the regatta continued with eight races completed in both the A and B divisions. Yale continues to lead the regatta with 147 points with Boston College trailing by just seven points.

With a total of 14 races completed, the Rainbow Wahine have a total of 372 points. Becky Mabardy and Darla Baldwin have tallied 215 points in A division, while Hannah Tuson-Turner and Jackie McLoughin totaled 152 points in the B division.

The regatta concludes tomorrow with the final four races in the 18-race rotation.
