Friesen Finishes Sixth in NCAA 3-Meter

Diving Performs Well At Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Hawai`i men's and women's diving teams had a strong showing at the highly competitive Texas Diving Invitational over the weekend, including a second place finish by Emma Friesen in the 1-meter final.
 
Both the men's and women's squads participated in the invitational, with Friesen earning the top finish. Friesen was diving in her first event since winning the NCAA Championship last season.
 
Friesen also finished in fifth place in the 3-meter final. On the 1-meter, Friesen had a final score of 309.05 and a score of 296.40 on the 3-meter.
 
On the men's side, freshman Douglas Cohen had two fourth place finishes, one in the platform final and one in the 3-meter final. Cohen had a score of 279.75 in the platform final and a score of 340.50 in the 3-meter final.
 
Also on the men's side Thomas Rugg finished in 15th in the 1-meter final and Cohen had a 10th place finish in the 1-meter.
 
Both diving teams return to action at the Hawai`i Diving Invitational on Jan. 7-8 at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
