UH Sailors Finish Second At Bryson Intersectional

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i women's sailing team got its 2007-08 campaign off to a strong start by finishing second at the Bryson Women's Intersectional, Sept. 29-30, at the Stanford Rowing and Sailing Center. No. 3 Stanford, the regatta host, won the eight-team event in commanding fashion.

A total of 20 races, 10 each in the A and B divisions, were completed during the two-day regatta. The Cardinal took home both divisions and cruised to victory by 52 points.

With Stanford head-and-shoulders above the field, UH held six other schools at bay for an impressive second place finish. Newcomer Hannah Tuson-Turner (skipper) and junior Pamela Magasinn (crew) finished runner-up in the B division with 33 points, while Crystal Bronte (skipper), Leanne Horvitz (crew) and Darla Baldwin (crew) totaled 44 points for a fourth-place finish in the A division.

The Rainbow Wahine will be back at Stanford two weeks from now as they compete in the PCCSC Singlehanded Championships, Oct. 12-13.
