Pair Of Rainbow Wahine Just Miss Cut For Nationals

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine sailors Hannah Tuson-Turner and Crystal Bronte placed third and fourth, respectively, at the Pacific Coast Sailing Conference Singlehanded Championship hosted Friday by Stanford.

The sailors battled tough weather conditions, with rain and wind causing the regatta to end early after having finished just eight races. Freshman Tuson-Turner placed third with a score of 32 and senior Bronte finished close behind in fourth place with a score of 33.

Stanford's Evan Brown dominated the field, finishing first in each of the eight races for a total of eight points. California's Dominique Bertrand tallied 20 points for a second-place finish. The pair qualified for the Singlehanded Nationals to be held in Seattle later this year.

Up next for the Rainbow Wahine is the PCCSC Women's Fall Championship, Nov. 17-18, in San Diego, Calif.
