DENVER - Hawai`i's
Christen Roper has been named the Western Athletic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week, the second Wahine to earn the honor this season.
Roper, a center from Ojai, Calif. (Nordhoff HS), earned Player of the Week honors as well as Ala Moana Hotel Paradise Classic MVP Honors after leading the Wahine to wins over Charlotte and Cleveland State, December 17 and 18. The MVP honor was Roper's second of the season.
In the championship game, the junior had a career-high 22 points against Cleveland State, adding 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the
season. Roper added 14 points and nine rebounds against Charlotte in an 82-59 Wahine win. The junior was a career-high 8-10 from the free throw
line.
During the tournament, Roper averaged 18.0 points with 9.5 rebounds and 5.0 blocks in two games.
Sophomore guard April Atuaia also garnered the award on December 10.
