Rainbow Sailors Place Second At PCCSC Match Race

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i coed sailing team had a strong showing at the PCCSC Match Race Fall Championships finishing runner-up to host Stanford in a tight duel between conference rivals.

A total of five teams competed over the weekend and completed a double round-robin of competition. Owen Lahr skippered for the Rainbows with Devon Stapleton and Bastien Rasse serving as crew. The trio put on an outstanding performance winning seven of eight head-to-head races against the field.

UH and Stanford were tied after the double round robin only losing a single race to each other. The regatta title was ultimately determined on a sail-off in the twilight hours on Saturday with the host Cardinals squeezing out the victory.

Next up for the Rainbow sailors is PCCSC Fall Championships Nov. 12-13 in Santa Barbara, Calif.
