Terry Albritton was a two-time All-American shot putter at UH and broke the world record (71 feet, 8½ inches) during an all-comers meet at Cooke Field on Feb. 21, 1976. He later won the NCAA shot put title that same year. In his first year at UH, after transferring from Stanford, he was the NCAA runner-up in 1975. He later won the 1977 NCAA title after transferring back to Stanford when UH dropped the track and field program. He also served as strength coach at UH from 1979-85.
