Jason Elam was a two-time All-American in football and is considered the best place-kicker in UH history. By the time he graduated in 1992, Elam held every UH and WAC career place-kicking record and continues to hold the record as the all-time leading scorer for the NFL’s Denver Broncos. In 1998, he won his first of two Super Bowls with the Broncos and later that year, tied the NFL record for the longest field goal at 63 yards.
