University of Hawai'i at Manoa Athletics

Eugene “Luke” Gill coached the Rainbow basketball teams from 1930-41, distinguishing himself as one of the most successful coaches in UH history (88-47). He is credited with expanding the basketball program from an eight-game schedule to a 16-game slate that featured Hawai‘i’s first intercollegiate opponents. He also served as athletics director and co-football coach at UH.
