Dr. Charles Araki, the former dean of the UH College of Education, started his association with the University as a football player during the mid-1950s. A starting tackle on the 1955 Hawai‘i squad that won at Nebraska, 6-0, Araki co-captained the 1956 team and was selected to play in the Hula Bowl All-Star game as a senior. After earning a doctorate from Illinois in 1970, Araki returned home, where he also serves on the UH Athletics Advisory Board.
