The 2010 Rainbow Wahine softball team was the first to qualify for the Women’s College World Series after upsetting top-seeded Alabama in the Tuscaloosa Super Regionals on a two-run, walk-off home run by Jenna Rodriguez. The team finished the season with a 50-16 record and hit 158 home runs to set the NCAA single-season record while Kelly Majam led the nation with 30 home runs. The squad featured two NFCA All-Americans — Melissa Gonzalez (3B, First Team) and Majam (CF, Second Team) and swept all major WAC awards — Jessica Iwata (Player of the Year), Stephanie Ricketts (Pitcher of the Year), Majam (Freshman of the Year), and Bob Coolen (Coach of the Year). The team also captured the WAC regular season and tournament titles. Team captains were Katie Grimes, Kanani Pu‘u-Warren, Amanda “AJ” Taualii, and Traci Yoshikawa.
