Women’s Golf Heads To Valley Isle For Anuenue Classic

Live Scoring | Tournament Program

The University of Hawai'i women's golf team will host the fifth annual Anuenue Spring Break Classic Monday, March 27 through Wednesday, March 29 at The Bay Course in Kapalua, Maui. The tournament returns after taking a one-year hiatus with the Big West Conference Championship being held at the Bay Course last year.

This year's Anuenue Classic features the nation's top-ranked team, Stanford, along with three other Top 50 ranked teams – No, 4 Arizona State, No. 9 UCLA, No. 36 Colorado, and No. 44 San Jose State. Making up the rest of the 15-team field are Albany, Fresno State, Gonzaga, UH, Mercer, Osaka Gakuin (Japan), Santa Clara, Seattle, UC Davis, and Utah Valley.

UC Davis won the last Anuenue Classic in 2015. UCLA captured the title in 2013 with a tourney record score of 854 while Colorado was the inaugural champion in 2012.

Participants will play a total of 54 holes, 18 on each day at the par 72, 6,022-yard course with a 7:45 a.m. shotgun start on each day.

In the 2015 tournament, UC Davis held off Texas to win the title by eight strokes while UCD's Andrea Wong took medalist honors at 7-under 209. UH's top finisher was Raquel Ek, who tied for 25th at 223 and led the Rainbow Wahine to an 11th place team finish.

The Rainbow Wahine are coming off a ninth place finish at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational last week. UH will send a seven-member contingent to Maui – five competing as part of the team and two as individuals.

UH will close out the regular season by travelling to Napa, Calif. to participate in the Silverado Showdown, April 9-11 before the Big West Conference Championships, April 23-25 in Riverside, Calif.
