The University of Hawai'i women's cross country team will make its annual trip to the Bay Area for the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 15. The Rainbow Wahine will compete in the event for the seventh consecutive year.
 
The women's 5K race begins at 9:45 a.m. PT (6:45 a.m. HT) at Baylands Regional Park in Sunnyvale, Calif. The Rainbow Wahine will be among more than 30 teams competing in the women's invitational portion of the meet.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will send their top runners to the competition, which is the team's final tune-up before the Western Athletic Conference Championship. UH hosts the WAC Championships, Oct. 29, at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course.
 
Reigning WAC athlete of the week Kevyn Murphy leads the Hawai'i contingent to the Bronco Invite. Last season, Murphy placed placed 63^rd overall, completing the 5K course in 18:12.8. Also at last year's meet, UH's Ashley Aitken placed fifth overall, one spot ahead of her finish a year earlier.
