Rainbow Wahine Basketball Falls To Brigham Young 81-44 In Hukilau Invitational

LA'IE, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine basketball team (3-5) fell to the Brigham Young Cougars (5-2) 81-44 in the Hukilau Invitational at the Cannon Activities Center Saturday.
 
Julita Bungaite led the way, going for 10 points and five rebounds. Breanna Arbuckle had eight points and six boards, while Keisha Kanekoa also went for eight points.
 
The Cougars ran out to an 8-0 advantage to start the game, spared by two three-pointers right off the bat. After Arbuckle scored UH's first bucket, BYU came right back with a huge 23-0 run, pushing its lead to 31-2 with just under eight minutes left in the half. Hawai'i would get the offense going a bit, but couldn't close the gap, going into the half down 48-16.
 
Hawai'i stayed with the Cougars better in the second half, being outscored only 12-11 in the first six minutes of the half. Bungaite posted all 10 of her points in the half, but the Rainbow Wahine couldn't make up for the lopsided first half, falling by the final of …
 
UH will have a couple weeks off before playing in the UNLV Desert Classic in Las Vegas from Dec. 19-21.
