Danielson Named Verizon Wireless WAC Player Of The Week

DENVER – University of Hawai'i sophomore outside hitter Kanani Danielson has been named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 26-Nov. 1. This marks the fourth WAC Player of the Week honor of the season for Danielson and the fifth of her career.
 
The sophomore tallied 37 kills, 12 digs, five blocks and five assists as Hawai'i went 2-0 in WAC matches last week to remain undefeated in conference play. Danielson averaged 5.29 kills on .368 hitting, 2.16 digs, 0.71 blocks and 0.57 assists per set.
 
She opened the week by tying her career high with 22 kills on .425 hitting to go with seven digs and two assists in a nationally-televised match at Fresno State. It was the third time this season she posted 20 or more kills in a match.
 
Danielson followed that up with 15 kills, five digs and four blocks in a sweep of Nevada.
 
Following Monday's match, the Rainbow Wahine return to the Stan Sheriff Center for their final two matches this weekend. UH will face Fresno State on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. and senior night will be against Utah State on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m.
