HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team begins a new era under head coach Dana Takahara-Dias on Wednesday night, as the Rainbow Wahine host Hawai'i Pacific University in an exhibition game at 7 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Takahara-Dias was hired as the seventh head coach in program history in May and rounded out her staff with former UH assistants Da Houl and
Serenda Valdez and assistant coach Patrick Knapp.
UH returns junior point guard
Keisha Kanekoa, who led the team last season averaging 11 points and 3.25 assists per game. Senior forward
Dita Liepkalne also returns for her final year, after starting all 31 games last season.
The regular season begins Nov. 17 on the road against UC Riverside. UH will face three opponents on the opening road trip, incluidng UCLA on Nov. 19 and Cal State Bakersfield on Nov. 21.
